Welcome to
Compoetics
a journal dedicated to composition across media, systems, and thought, grounded in the shared space of
Poetry <–> Computation <–> Communities.
Compoetics brings together creative, computational, and critical practices through four interconnected sections:
- Algorithmics / AI / LLMs / Repos / Databases
- Intermedia / Transmedia / Performance
- Text / Concrete / Intersemiotic
- Theory / Essay / Criticism
The journal is guided by the understanding that contemporary poetics unfolds across data/code/text, systems/embodiment/communities, and networked/dynamic/comparative reflection.
Writing today may be (co-)generated, assisted, translated, transformed, performed, negotiated, archived, or theorized through technical and/or conceptual infrastructures–always situated within emerging/dynamic communities of (commoning) practice and exchange.
Compoetics is a (data)space where poetry mediation and computation meet, and where communities (per)form and evolve around shared inquiry or work(s).
Authors may be featured in one or more sections of a single issue through multifaceted contributions. A submission might include:
- a literary work in the Text section,
- a related or standalone trans/intermedia or videopoetic work in Intermedia,
- a reflective or critical essay in Theory exploring (the) poetics (informing the submitted work), and/or
- code, repository, or database in Algorithmics.
Compoetics invites works that move between performance & archiving, between agents & field, between system & expression, between m(ist)aking & (re[s])thinking, between artifact and reflection, between (inter)platform and intermediation–and that contribute to an evolving ecology of poetic and computational communities.
We look forward to compos(IT[u]action)ing with you.
